College Football Coaches Salaries

It probably wouldn’t come as a surprise that Alabama’s Nick Sabin is the highest paid coach in college football. Although, you might be a bit surprised that his total compensation for 2010 reaches nearly $6 million. USA Today recently published a list of the almost every Football Bowl Subdivision (aka Division I) head coach. There are a few schools/coaches for which they (for whatever reason) couldn’t get the data, but most of the coaches are included.

Some other notables:

Mack Brown of Texas comes in at $5.1 million.

The recently retired Urban Myer (Florida) is racking in $4.1 million.

Kirk Ferentz (Iowa) and Les Miles (LSU) both make north of $3.7 million. Jim Tressel (Ohio St.) is just above $3.5 million.

Penn State’s Joe Paterno makes a modest $1.1 million, making him the 7th highest paid coach in the Big 10.

This year’s BCS National Championship will feature Oregon’s Chip Kelly ($2.4) vs. Auburn’s Gene ($2.1)
