NASCAR Mobile ’13 for iPad, iPhone and Android

It’s time to start your engines for another season of NASCAR racing. For those NASCAR fans with iPhone, iPads, and Android devices, you can get the news, expert analysis, video and photos with the new NASCAR Mobile ’13 App.

The NASCAR Mobile ’13 app replaces the previously released NASCAR Sprint Cup Mobile app from Sprint for Android and iOS devices. The NASCAR Mobile ’13 app promises full year coverage of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, NASCAR Nationwide Series, and NASCAR Camping World Truck Series. Features include driver information and historical data, breaking news, expert analysis and media including articles, images and video on-demand, schedules, driver standings and track information. Coming soon are Fantasy games and alerts.

Upgrade – Premium Live Content

Here’s an overview of what’s available with purchase of an in-app subscription (NASCAR Mobile ’13 premium content is available without subscription to Sprint customers on a qualified device with an Unlimited data plan)

  • Real-time advanced leaderboards, track position and comprehensive telemetry data for NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, NASCAR Nationwide Series, and NASCAR Camping World Series
  • Real-time Practice and Qualifying session leaderboards for NASCAR Sprint Cup Series
  • Live in-car audio for NASCAR Sprint Cup Series drivers and Officials
  • Live Motor Racing Network (MRN) and Performance Racing Network (PRN) race audio broadcasts
  • Live alternate camera angles for NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (when available)

This “when available” could be a big caveat or no big deal. If the live alternate camera angles are anything like NASCAR’s Race Buddy, it’ll be a big win for fans. The season hasn’t begun yet, but I don’t currently see a way to subscribe. I’m assuming that will be available once the season begins. According to the NASCAR website, when accessing the application as a non-subscriber, small orange locks will appear on premium content. To unlock premium content, a user would need to purchase a monthly or seasonal subscription through the application or access the application via a Sprint device. Price of the premium upgrade for the season is $24.99 through iTunes or Google Play. The app description also mentions a monthly subscription  but I see a published price yet. (I’m assuming that will be available shortly)

Cost: Free with optional upgrade for premium content. Free to Sprint customers with unlimited data plans.
