The French Open, one of the world’s premiere tennis championship gets underway this week and you can follow the action on your mobile devices with the free Roland Garros app for the iPhone, iPad, and Android.

The app has been updated for 2012 and it appears very similar in design to last year’s effort. Back again is the news feed, a video section, schedule and results, a live radio feed, player info, and a really nice section for those who plan to attend the French Open.

Included this year is a very slick 3D map of Roland Garros.

While the app is very nicely designed, we’re anxious to see how it works during the tournament. Last year we has issues with some of the features and even though the radio worked fine for us, there were many reported issues from others.

I dowoaded the iPhone app but I can’t find a link to the live radio from here in thUSA. Is radio available? and where do I find the link? From the Roland Garros web sit I need Flash in order to listen to the live Radio that of course does not work on an Idevice. HTML 5 does work on an Idevice. So they should design the web site based on HTML 5 not flash. Then any device computer of Idevice could use the services.

There is a little Radio icon at the top left.

Duh, actually I spoke to soon I just did not have the volume turned up on
my iPhone to hear the live radio via the iPhone app. But the best web site is the US Open tennis site. At least here in the USA I can watch up to 6 matches directly from my iPad and switch at will to any one of the other matches. So I can watch a few games of one match then switch and watch another match. This is great and I don’t need flash to do it. So I say if the IBM US Open site can do it then any of the grand slam sites could do the same. And should do the same, please.
