Home Run Weather iPhone & iPad App Tells You if Weather Conditions are Prime for MLB Home Runs
At some point while watching or listening to a Major League Baseball game, you’ve likely heard an announcer say something along the lines of “on a normal day that ball would have been a home run.” With the Home Run Weather app for iPhone and iPad, you can see ahead of time whether (pun) or not your favorite team will be playing in optimal weather for home runs.
Home Run Weather 2012 uses historical data, statistics and physics to determine if conditions will help or hurt ball flight.
To use the app simply select a major league city and a time up to 24 hours in the future. The app will calculate a score of 0 through 10 (out of 10) based on the contributing data.
The app claims to only consider atmospheric conditions.and that pitcher, batter, and park dimensions are not part of the algorithm. So, theoretically, tiny ballparks will not always have higher numbers and vice versa.
It might be interesting to refer to this app when planning your fantasy baseball lineup if you are losing the home run category late in the week and are looking for a potential edge to get a few more dingers. It may or may not work, but it might be worth a shot.
It’s currently free, but the implication is that it will eventually be a paid app, so go grab Home Run Weather and check it out now!
