New Deal will Bring WatchESPN App Access to Comcast Xfinity Subscribers

We can now add Comcast TV subscribers to the list of TV providers with access to the WatchESPN family of mobile apps. Comcast and Disney (parent of ESPN) announced an agreement that (among a lot of other things) will open the door for Comcast Xfinity customers to access ESPN content on there iPhone, iPad, and Android devices with the WatchESPN app.

While the WatchESPN app is fantastic, to this point, it’s been limited only to subscribers of Time Warner, Verizon FIOS, or Bright House Networks. That trio unfortunately represented only a rather small portion of the viewing population.

From ESPN Media Zone:

Xfinity TV customers will receive broad access to existing authenticated products like WatchESPN…. These services will give Comcast’s Xfinity TV customers more opportunities to access live and video on demand content, both in-home and out-of-home, on their computers, smartphones, tablets and gaming consoles. .

You can read the full press release of the deal here. No word on exactly how soon Comcast subscribers will get access.
