Follow the 2010 British Open on Your iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch

The British Open Championship (or just the Open Championship as it’s known outside the U.S.) tees off on Thursday July 15th. This year the Open features a return to St. Andrews and the return of Tiger Woods to the course where he won British Open titles in 2000 and 2005.

If you can’t catch all the active on TV, the updated Open Championship iPhone app has you covered.

The app is a free download from the App store. During the tournament the App will have live video (UK), live audio, and leaderboard. Currently you can find Preview videos, news updates,  and hole by hole course description.

Last year’s tournament was unforgettable as Tom Watson almost became the oldest Open Champion at the ripe age of 59. You can relive 2009 again with a video review.

In addition to the live scoring and audio, the App allows you to tag your favorite golfers to better track their progress during the tournament.

Even if you plan on watch some or all of the event on television, this App looks like it will make for a nice companion. We’ll be checking it out live during the tournament and posting any updates.

Note: Live Video in the U.S requires MobiTV iPhone app and a subscription which starts at $9.99 / month.

To grab the Open Championship App in the App store or download it right here. Note: The App is updated for IOS4.
