PGA Championship 2011 Golf App for iPhone

The 93rd PGA Championship will take place this weekend (August 11-14) at Atlanta Athletic Club and the PGA Championship Official iPhone app will keep golf fans connected to golf 4th and final major. The PGA Championship iPhone app has stepped up it’s game this year and will be offering free live streaming video in 2011.

The free live video is most certainly the killer feature of this years app. Live video was available in last year’s app, but you were required to pay a $1.99 fee for the service. The app features two live streaming channels, “Marquee Group coverage” and Par 3 coverage.

Naturally, you’ll get up to the minute scoring, leader board, and the latest news, including interviews and highlights. You can get breaking news alerts and updates on your favorite players.

If you are attending the tournament, you can follow your favorite players and even locate them on the course.

The PGA Championship App has pretty clearly raised it’s game this year and moved up to the level of the other major golf championship apps (which we believe to be across the board among the best sports apps available) Free live video is fantastic and the player locator is sure to be a hit with those attending the event in person. You can use the PGA Championship app on you iPad, but there is not iPad optimized version. If you downloaded the app last year, look for an update in the App Store, or download this years edition through the link below.
