British Open Championship 2011 App for iPhone

The field of the 2011 British Open Championship tee off starting Thursday July 13 at Royal St. George, and the The Open Championship 2011 app for iPhone will keep golf fans in the loop.

The major golf tournaments have consistently produced very high quality sports apps, and this one is no exception. This year we’ll also get live streaming video (for most countries), and live streaming audio.

Live video is available for most for most of the world, but unfortunately, not the United States. Everyone will have access to the live radio broadcast.

There is a nice course map with a description of the course, and hole-by-hole maps with tournament rankings and hole statistics.

Once the tournament gets underway, you’ll have a live leaderboard, tee times, and bulletins.

There is supposed to be an Android App, but we’ve yet to see it appear in the Android Market. Hopefully next year will see an iPad optimized app. For U.S. residents with Verizon broadband, FIOS, Time Warner, or Brighthouse Networks cable subscriptions, you’ll be able to watch the British Open with WatchESPN app.

Download The Open Championship 2011 App from the App Store.
